How long does the dry ice effect last?

10 kg of dry ice is perfectly suited to one full first-dance song. Additional dry ice can be added on request if you'd like the effect to run longer.

Are cold sparks safe indoors?

Yes. Cold spark machines use a granulated metal composite heated electrically — not gunpowder pyrotechnics — so there is no open flame, no smoke and no UV. The low-temperature spark fountain is safe for indoor use, near guests, attire and décor.

Is dry ice fog safe to breathe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Dry ice fog is simply frozen CO₂ subliming into warm water, producing a low-lying cloud of CO₂ and cold water vapour — no glycol, oil or chemical haze. It is generally well tolerated, dissipates quickly, and is operated by trained professionals who manage ventilation and timing.

What about ventilation and CO₂ during the dry ice effect?

Dry ice fog is sublimating CO₂ and cold water vapour. Because CO₂ is heavier than air the cloud stays low and disperses upward as it warms. For a single first-dance song (~3–4 minutes) using 10 kg of dry ice, the added CO₂ in a normally-ventilated venue — ballroom, hall, marquee or any room with doors, windows or HVAC airflow — stays well below workplace safety thresholds. We do not operate the effect in small, sealed, unventilated rooms, we cap the effect to the song length, and our operator monitors airflow and timing throughout.

Will the effects set off the venue's smoke alarms?

Both dry ice fog and cold sparks contain no combustion particulates, so they typically do not trigger photo-electric or ionisation smoke detectors. We always notify the venue in advance and confirm the detector type before setup.

Yes. We are based in Port Elizabeth and our main service areas are PE, Uitenhage, Despatch, Jeffreys Bay, Port Alfred, Grahamstown, Kirkwood, the Sundays River Valley, Cradock and Graaff-Reinet. Travel costs are tailored to your venue location.
