Dry Ice vs Cold Sparks

Two very different effects, often confused. Here is the honest comparison we give every couple who asks — including when we recommend one over the other, and when we suggest both.

Dry ice cloud rolling across a wedding dance floor

Dry Ice

Romantic, cinematic, floor level. Chosen by couples who want the "floating on a cloud" first-dance photograph.

Indoor cold spark fountains at a wedding reception

Cold Sparks

Bold, energetic, vertical. Chosen by couples who want the room to erupt on an entrance or a big reveal.

Our Honest Recommendation

If you can only choose one and the first dance is the moment that matters most to you, choose dry ice. It photographs beautifully, it works in almost any room regardless of ceiling height, and it is the effect guests talk about afterwards.

If your reception is high-energy — a grand entrance, a big band, a late-night dance floor — choose cold sparks. The impact on video is unmatched and it lifts the whole room in a way a cloud cannot.

Most of our couples book both. Dry ice opens the first dance, and cold sparks fire as the song lifts into the chorus. Because setup, crew and travel are shared, a combined booking always costs less than two separate ones.

  • One crew, one setup, one travel charge
  • Two distinct photo moments instead of one
  • Timing rehearsed with your DJ in advance
